How to use it

  1. 1Choose your sex and unit system, then enter age, height, and weight.
  2. 2Select your activity level from the dropdown.
  3. 3Read your TDEE, its resting-vs-activity split and weekly total, and compare calories across every activity level on the chart.

Example

A 1,699 kcal/day BMR becomes roughly 2,633 kcal/day at a moderate activity level (exercising 3-5 days a week) — about 934 kcal/day, or 35% of the total, coming from activity on top of resting metabolism. The chart shows how much that swings across activity levels, and the weekly total shown is that same figure × 7.

How it works

TDEE takes your BMR (calculated with the Mifflin-St Jeor equation) and multiplies it by an activity factor — 1.2 for sedentary up to 1.9 for very active — based on the widely used activity multipliers. It estimates how many calories you burn in a typical day including exercise and daily movement, not just resting. The resting-vs-activity split shows how much of that total comes from simply being alive versus moving around.
